Joe Diebes at Hammer Museum The following exhibition will deal with the material characteristics of art: literally—with reference to its materiality, substance and longevity, as well as metaphorically—with reference to issues such as marketing, ownership, exhibition, concealment, prohibition, destruction. Which aesthetics can—and should—be applied today to remove art from the sphere of the merely “outwardly attractive” without necessarily ending up in the realms of the quasi-religious? Joe Diebes new music film will be presented at the UCLA Hammer Museum January 22nd.

BlackRock Art Video | New Media Lounge, Chief Curator, Asher Remy Toledo MIAMI–Art Miami 2008 will have a unique, Art Video and New Media Lounge organized by curator Asher Remy Toledo and sponsored by BlackRock, the nation’s largest asset manager. The 2,500-square-foot lounge will be the largest at any of the Miami art fairs and will present work from six, major, international, art institutions including: The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) in Miami, USA, The Foundation for Art and Creative Technology in Liverpool, U.K. (FACT), The Palazzo Delle Arti Napoli (PAN) in Naples, Italy. The Center for Contemporary Art – Tel Aviv, Israel (CCA), The Iberia Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing, China, and The Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, China. NMR Staging and Events will provide necessary equipment and technical assistance. |

Zhang Xiaotao at Iberia Opening: 2pm,August 25 “Microscopic Narration: Social Images by Zhang Xiaotao and Li Yifan” is a thematic exhibition composed by two solos—Mist and Dossier, featuring respectively two artists Zhang Xiaotao and Li Yifan. The exhibition title “Microscopic Narration” presents the homogenous aspect of their art practice. Zhang Xiaotao is frequently exhibited as a painter while Li Yifan works as a documentary director. Though working with different mediums, both of them have been devoted to textual research and narration of Chinese modern reality...

Mind + Soul | Sensibility x Sensation Exhibition: June 14 – July 31, 2008 Asher Remy Toledo, Artistic Director Asher Remy Toledo for this exhibition has brought these two artists together to be part of the fir. As the opening exhibition of the Yuanfen New Media Art Space, Mind + Soul | Sensibility x Sensation presents a musical installation and new sound paintings of American artist Joe Diebes and the interactive video artworks of Hong Kong artist HUNG Keung.
